PROJECT BACKGROUND
Over a year ago, a couple of us walked this park, talking about what amazing things we could do with the Bike Park in Eagle Mountain. Seeing what other cities have been able to do with their bike parks throughout Utah and the entire Country, we felt we could do something special. Our park had a lot of great foundational pieces already built years ago, but was in need of some repair to trails and features. Over time volunteers had been doing a good job of keeping everything in well enough repair to be an enjoyable park to ride. However, we felt that there was an opportunity to really take it to the next level and do something more. Thus began a plan for a phased approach to remodeling and upgrading the Bike Park.
Our plan was a basic, three phase approach, similar to what is laid out below, but in a different timeline and oder. As we began planning and talking with the City and others about this idea, Christian Pepper moved to Saratoga Springs and reached out, looking for opportunities to build some jumps. We talked possibilities in the area, including talking about our general idea for a bike park re-vamp. Within a short period of time, Christian had put together an amazing proposal/design for this project and we got excited about the opportunity to kickstart this project immediately.
Because the bike park already was an existing park, we could move quickly on this project - as it would be an upgrade/enhancement to an existing city park. Our LMTA team, Christian's team, and the City came together nicely to put this project in motion and through crowdfunding, and generous donations from Meta (Facebook) and Maverik, we were able to fund the first phase. Burley Excavation has been our amazing partner as well, providing dirt and machine work at an amazing cost.
SCOPE OF PROJECT
We have an ambitious scope for this project, and are currently working on Phase 1. Here are details.
Phase 1: Jumpline Rebuild (IN PROGRESS)
This phase contains the following major items:
Re-design and upgrade the jumpline in the park to a professional level
We will be re-designing our jumpline and putting in a new, significantly more progressive and safe jumpline. It is important that we build professionally designed jumps to...
Fix current drainage issues
There is a drainage issue from water at the bottom, northern end of the park that has been a problem for the neighborhood. Eagle Mountain City will be working to fix this issue. LMTA will also be ensuring that the work we do on the park also addresses water runoff from the park itself.
Address current dust concerns
We know there is a concern with dust. When the trails/dirt are used frequently, the dirt becomes powdery and can create a lot of dust for neighbors when the wind blows. We want to minimize this effect and will do this in three ways:
Replacement of kids pump track
We will be replacing the pump track once the jumpline is completed.
Clean up/maintenance of core bike park facilities
We need to touch up existing facilities such as the pavilions, the park benches, garabage cans, etc
Improved Signage
We need to improve existing signage to make it clear about usage rules and clearly mark areas for their purpose.
Phase 2 (IN PLANNING)
In this phase, we will be working on upgrading and cleaning up the trails in the middle of the power corridor and up on the hill to make them easier to navigate, more enjoyable to ride, and sustainable long term. This will include the following things:
Phase 3 (IDEA FOR FUTURE)
Ultimately, we want to continue to provide a progressive, enjoyable experience for all levels of riders.

- Increase enjoyment and provide a progressive experience to users
- Increase the saftey of our jumps through good design/build
- Provide long-term, lasting enjoyment for visitors

Address current dust concerns
We know there is a concern with dust. When the trails/dirt are used frequently, the dirt becomes powdery and can create a lot of dust for neighbors when the wind blows. We want to minimize this effect and will do this in three ways:
- Better sign the park to eliminate RC car and motorized traffic, which tend to create significant dust and damage to trails and features.
- Re-plant/plant vegetation to help capture dust and reduce open dirt where possible
- Put water access into the park so that workers and users can spray down the dirt as needed (such as before riding the jumpline). This will help with reducing damage to the jumps and keep dust down in the park. We are working with the city to restore access to the park, with a few water access points.
Replacement of kids pump track
We will be replacing the pump track once the jumpline is completed.

In this phase, we will be working on upgrading and cleaning up the trails in the middle of the power corridor and up on the hill to make them easier to navigate, more enjoyable to ride, and sustainable long term. This will include the following things:
- Re-routing or Removing trails that are unwanted or a problem for general flow of traffic.
- Clear signage of all trails
- Fixing any trails that are in need of dirt work, including berms, water damage, etc.
- Upgrading/fixing of features such as wooden features, jumps, and other items that are in need of repair.
Phase 3 (IDEA FOR FUTURE)
Ultimately, we want to continue to provide a progressive, enjoyable experience for all levels of riders.
